Hi guys. I have a quastioin about ram configurations and the more I look into it the more it seems to get trickier. I am beginning to understand that it isn't as easy as just buy and put in.

I currently have 4GB - 4x1GB sticks.

I would like to upgrade to 8GB

Would my machine like it best with an additional:

2x2GB stick (total=4x1Gb,2x2GB)

or

4x1GB (total=8x1GB)

Once I reach 8GB I will be staying that way for a while I think 8GB is enough for what I use it for (pro tools)

Any help would be great.

Cheers.

Sell your 4x1 set while there is still a market for it (better hurry) and get 4x2. This will give you the dual channel access mode for the speed and also allow you to upgrade once 64-bit Cocoa apps start hitting and you realize that 16GB or 24GB would be nice to have!
