If your macbook identifier is 6,1 it will work and you can use 8gb but the macbook will generate more heat. I've done the upgrade to corsair ram at 1333MHz and I had to mod the spd so that the ram speed stayed at 1067Mhz.

1333MHz = More heat and less battery

I remember commenting on your post after you had just finished getting it all fixed up. How has it been running anyways? Blazing fast? And Blazing hot too? haha just curious my friend.

Yeah I remember:) it's running just fine:cool: no more heat and got my old battery life back:D And yes it's way faster, too bad I can't afford an ssd now, that would be awesome too:p

Yup, it is a 6,1

So in conclusion
1) 1333 ram will work and can use 8 gig total
2) 1067 ram will work and use 8 gig total
3) There is not software limitation restricting it to only 4 gigs as I recall apple saying 4 was what it was upgradeable to as evidenced by this wiki article as well
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook
2 GB (two 1 GB)
Expandable to 4 GB
4) Any brand will work, correct?

Thanks

They kinda look the same but the second one as the previous post says it's a way to eat customers money :p

I bought non apple ram, just standard ram and it worked fine (now I bought faster ram and that gave me a little more heat so make sure that it's DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) ram)

Anyway the first link should work just fine:)
