RAM Corsair upgrade macbook unibody 13" late 2008 3 beeps

Hello,

I tried tot upgrade the RAM on a Macbook unibody 13" late 2008 with the CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7 Corsair 8gb. At boot my Macbook gives 3 beeps over and over (according to Apple this is a Power On Self-Test failure). I tried replacing them, putting one module in (for both in the different slots) but still the 3 beeps. When I put in the old RAM my Macbook boots and works fine. I also tried resetting the CMS and the NVRAM and PRAM with the new RAM installed, but still the 3 beeps. Do you have any suggestions?
Could really use some help here.

Macbook unibody 13" late 2008 2.4 GHz MB467LL/A
Running Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
ROM MB51.007D.B03 (checked at OWC for 8gb support)
 
It sounds like either the RAM is defective (less likely) or you don't have it properly seated (more likely). It sometimes takes a lot of pressure to get the RAM modules properly seated.
 
Try one of the new 4GB modules and one of your originals and see what happens....

I suspect the new ram may not be PC8500 and this is the easiest way to tell

GGJstudios advice is helpful for A1181 MacBooks but not for the later Unibodies - the chips are inserted at an angle and do not require any pressure....
 
Thank you for your reply logana. On the corsair site the specs tells me that it is PC3-8500 (1066MHz). I tried your advice to put in 1 new and 1 old RAM module (al combinations), but my Macbook still gives the 3 beeps and won't boot.

Thank you for your reply GGJstudios but as logana said its a macbook unibody and the RAM doesn't need that much pressure because the modules are inserted at an angle.
 
That thread seems to be your answer - Corsair ram is probably not going to work !

The reason I asked you to try a mix of old and Corsair was to try and find out if maybe the speed was wrong on the Corsair ram. Your MacBook is being picky - some will run with ram quicker than PC8500
 
I checked some other forums too. A lot of people used this Macmemory Corsair RAM to upgrade their Macbook unibody 13" late 2008 and it worked. How can it be that my Macbook won't work? The Corsair site states that it is compatible with Macbooks 2009. Has this something to do with te logic board on this older Macbook?

Will any other 8gb RAM work with my Macbook?
 
Make sure you have the latest EFI update for that machine, it is absolutely required for 8GB.

I am in the same situation, having issues with Corsair memory modules. I first got a set that did not work (3beeps), after som hassle I got the store to take them back. Then I got new Corsair Mac-certified memories. I got home tried them - same issue 3 beeps. (Tried them separately and also in combination with the original HyperX)

Did you mange to get the Corsair to work?
 
I am also having the same issue. I have a late 2008 MacBook unibody and bought that corsair 8gb ram from frys. It sucks so I'm returning it tomorrow. I purchased some ram from owc. Hopefully it has a better ending.
