Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a good way to flush the Ram and whatever else without a restart.

I notice that running a Verify permissions, or repair permissions will flush Ram, or at least cause the pie chart in Activity Monitor to gain a lot more Green....

Is there a solution other than a Terminal command, or a restart?

thanks.

supposedly:

Code:
sudo du -h -d1 /

But AFAIC, it's more likely a bug in top & Activity Monitor and how they read RAM usage.

There's a point of diminising returns on trying to stave off a 2 minute restart.

It should also be noted that all this "gains" you is a move of "Inactive RAM" to "Free RAM", which is no gain at all, since inactive should be counted as free RAM for all intents and purposes.

Technically, no. But for all practical purposes, yes, they are the same thing.

You can see how easily "inactive" is willing to give it up to "free". It's a whore.
