I recently dropped my macbook and the holder for the top RAM card broke off. Now every time I put my laptop down too hard the RAM comes unseated and my computer shuts down. Is there any way to fix this without purchasing a new logic board?

Hmmm.. if it is much like the design of holders in my 2007 and 2011 MBPs, I am quite sure it is an Integral Part, and maybe a small bit of well-placed Silicone on each end of the RAM stick (avoiding the Electrical Contacts of course!!) would do the trick.. I hope..

I can not see a better 'fix' if as I picture the issue.. Good luck!!

put some thing non conductive, llke a couple folds of paper on top of the SIMM so that the MB back cover puts a little pressure on the SIMM. That may prevent the SIMM from coming lose.

Time to plan on a new rMBP that is all soldered on and/or screwed down. ;)
