RAM Monitor App

Can you recommend the best RAM/Memory monitor app that's free? I want something thats lightweight, and pretty straightforward....

Use Activity Monitor. It's free, light weight does the job very well and it is already on your hard drive (or it should be).

I never really understood the need for a 3rd party memory (purge) app. I mean im using iStatMenu but not for memory, more for WiFi and CPU/Heat monitoring.

Is there a benefit for the Purge/Ram Cleaner apps?
