It may, it may not. Macs are notoriously picky about RAM. More than just the normal advertised specs are important. It's best to purchase RAM from a dealer that will guarantee the RAM to work in a Mac. I highly recommend looking at datamem.com.

I have RAM in my 8600 that I bought from OWC (a Mac only retailer) and it is atrocious. When this RAM is installed, the system will sometimes not restart properly, and the startup chime is cut short. This happens individually with all four sticks, but not any of the original memory the computer came with. In conclusion, even buying from a large Mac dealer isn't always a guarantee.
