I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro. A little over a year ago I had to do some emergency work on it when the HD started to fail and ended up replacing it with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD and the machine has been running really well since.

At the time I didn't touch the RAM(currently 4GB) and was wondering if this is something worth doing if I want to keep the machine running for a couple more years?

Saw a few options offered:
Crucial 8GB for $82
OWC 16GB for $100
OWC 8GB for $50

Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.

I agree with DeltaMac. The max Ram for a 2009 MBP is 8 GB.

Take a closer look at the OWC information. The 16 GB RAM kit is for the 2010 MBP 7,1:

OWC shows 8 GB kits for the 2009 MBP's:

Cool - good catch. I had just looked at the Upgrade Overview page for 2008-2009 to get an idea of options and price.

Overall is it worth the $50 to upgrade to 8GB?
