Hey all,

I know that the early 2011 15" could accept 16GB of ram running at 1600MHZ, but according to intel, the new 2.2GHZ Processor can only run that same 16GB at 1333MHZ, is this confirmed? If so, Id say the difference is minimal at best?

Thanks for any input you may have.

The processor will be fine with either 1600 or 1333 memory. The only difference you'll see will be with synthetic benchmarks scores.

I think the 2.2GHz CPU in the late 2011 model can only deal with 1333 RAM. The 1600 might work, but will not run at 1600 speed. (CPU model 2675QM)

The early 2011 2.2GHz should be able to handle 1600 RAM. It's a different CPU, model number 2720QM.

Yea thats what I figured. I figured if I put 1600MHZ ram in there it'll just down clock. Ive got 1333 in my mid 2010 MBP and it just clocks it down to 1067. If anything Ill just buy a 16GB kit of 1333. I don't think they'll be much of a difference anyway. If at all.
