Ram question. 20 gb?

I have a mid 2011 imac. Will 2 + 2+ 8 +8 work okay? I purchased 2 -8gb corsair ram this weekend from newegg.

Thats not advisable.
Apple states 16GB as max, in fact it is 32GB.

i would recommend to check your imac specs from everymac.com instead. apple officially states a max of 16gb but you can get up to 32gb.

and yes, 2+2+8+8 will work. it worked on my 2010 imac.
