Ram Question

Hi all, I have a question about 2 imac systems that I have.

1. 2011 3.1GHZ i5
2. 2009 2.66GHZ i5

What is the max ram I can install into both? 16gb or 32gb? I read that the 2011 can go up to 32gb, not sure about the 2009.

also, if I just go with 16gb, is it best to run 2X8gb or 4 x 4gb?

Both of those machines have four RAM slots, *officially* supporting up to 4 GB per slot.

However, as long as you're running greater than Snow Leopard, you can use 8 GB per slot and go all the way up to 32 GB on both machines.
