I am about to order a new 12" Powerbook with superdrive. I am a little concerned on the amount of RAM to get. Trying to save a few bucks, I was thinking of getting the base 256MB and getting RAM from a third party. Will I actually save some money by doing this, or would it just be easier just to have Apple put the RAM in for me?

Any help for this "switcher" would be appreciated.

The ram compartment is held in by four screws on the bottom. You should be able to install the Ram yourself.

Just unscrew, snap it... screw again.

The Ram is easily replaced...and quite a bit cheaper from other sources. Do some research and you'll be glad you saved the bucks.
