I know there are several guides about upgrading RAM here on MacRumors, which I'll be using if I should decide to upgrade. But, I'm about to buy a MBP in the next week or so and I was wondering if I can get away with 2GB now and upgrade later if I need it without any repercussions. Does it void the warranty or anything if I crack open my own computer?

As we don't know what exactly you do with your Mac, if you get it (but know, that updates are expected in the next 4 to 6 weeks, maybe even longer), we don't know if you can get away with 2GB RAM.

And replacing the RAM will not void the warranty, there is even a guide from Apple on how to do it.

Thanks. I'm not really sure if I need 2GB or 4GB based on what I'm going to do either, so that's why I'm planning to just go for 2GB to start. Sorry, I wasn't really clear on that. Thanks for the info!
