Hope someone can help . . . Does anyone think it might be advisable to max out my ram from 16gb to 32gb for my late 2013 27inch iMac. I am a graphic designer and use all the major programmes. I have x2 8gb slots available. Would I see a speed upgrade if I did? Thanks.

Hi, a very newbie on here but just saw your post!

I have the same iMac, which I purposely intended to be a long term investment, so ordered it with a high spec i7 and the best in graphics available back then. I upgraded the RAM myself to 32gb (very simply done) just as you are considering. The noticeable difference in speed alone isn't immediate...however, where it does make a huge difference is it's ability to handle much more multi-task demands and not see any slow down. I throw so much at it and never see it struggle. I'm almost convinced it laughs at me when I try....

As a graphics user, I'd suggest you will benefit from the confidence of having double the RAM behind you. And one of the simplest ways to improve performance (besides de-clutter) is to make a RAM upgrade. I recommend it.

I hope that's of use and good luck with it.

Cheers for the info MrJ. I think I will probably go ahead and upgrade. I too specked it out when I purchased. And have been very pleased with it. But does seem to slow down bit with a few major programmes open.
