my mid 2009 13' 2.26ghz mbp has 2x2 ddr3 1066mhz ram. i will install 4x2. i wanna upgrade it and do i have to 1066 mhz ram memory ? can i use 1333mhz ?

You can, but why bother? Just use 1066 MHz, as it is what Apple ships it with and supports.

Ah! You're welcome. :)

1333 MHz will work, although there have been sporadic reports of problems with it in your machine. In some places, there is enough of a price difference to make trying it worthwhile; but for the tiny price spread these days I'd just suggest going with 1066.
 
I would go with the 1333, if you have problems with the ram more than likely it was a bad stick to begin with. I run 1866 in my laptop and I had so many negative responses saying it's not going to work blah blah blah. Well it does and I don't have any problems.

If anything, the memory will downclock to 1066. Buying 1333 will allow you to use it in a newer machine as well.
