I have a iMac with ddr3 1600 mhz will this work in an iMac that has ddr3 1867 mhz

Yes, faster DDR3 RAM will work on a slower system, it just won't work at its maximum speed (ie: it will run at 1600 MHz and not its maximum 1867 MHz). Just make sure it's the same physical size; iMac RAM tends to use laptop RAM cards instead of the longer desktop ones.

Sounds like late 2014 and late 2015 27" iMacs. Is that right?

I am bit doubtful that the older slower RAM will work with the newer faster iMac.

But try it. Make sure you have matched pairs of RAM modules.
