I downloaded a couple of utility apps to check cpu, RAM, battery, etc on my phone just out of curiosity.

Surprisingly o found that both apps showed that almost all of the 4gb of RAM in my 13 mini was in use, even though I had no apps running at all other than the utility tool.

Is 4gb not enough these days, would iOS on its own be taking up almost all available RAM even without apps open?

Curious how many no iCloud apps have back ground services enabled. Who’s to say this app isn’t using up a lot of ram itself?

Lots more needs to be shown here.

Good questions!
I have background app refresh off for all but a couple of apps… I closed all apps- but I do wonder if this tool itself is using a ton of RAM.

It is interesting though that a 2nd tool showed the same thing.

I think there is a difference between used memory, inactive memory and free memory.
What details are in the memory details button?

Get a different utility.
My iPhone only has 3GB of RAM and currently lots of apps are in the background yet I still have 1.13GB free.
Inactive memory and Free memory are essentially the same thing. Add them together to show available memory.
