I understand that the system becomes unresponsive when you are running First Aid on your main drive. My Macbook is set to lock after a few minutes of inactivity, which it did, however I’m now unable to access my system because the lock screen is a jumbled, pixelated mess. Typing in my password and hitting enter doesn’t do anything.

Will this eventually clear up, or will I need to do a manual restart? (Will this cause issues?)
First Aid has been running for about 30 minutes or so.

Thanks for any advice.

take a deep breath; hold the power button until the macbook shuts off. wait a minute. turn it back on. when it says 'your mac was shut down because of...' (etc), don't have it reopen apps. and all will (probably) be fine...
