K this is weird since I have owned Apple products for a long time, and work there for a good while, but I'm curious if yall could figure this out for me (because I cant, even with internet recs):

Im having problems because suddenly my Applications icon has moved to the right side of the dock near trash. I have tried many options online to fix this and make it move back toward the left, but nothing is working. I tried multiple different ways, and nada. This still isnt a big deal, i just liked it there for years!!

Thanks everyone

Example of one i tried:

Pic of what im talking about. Applications is sitting bottom right

Did you right-click on the icon, select Options, then Keep in Dock? After that, drag to the position you want.

Definitely. But when I right click, it is removed....period. So then I have gone into finder, I select it from my favorites, and choose "add to dock". Same ole

Here is one i tried as well:
Yes, this is possible, but it may not behave the way you want.

What I mean is that adding a folder to the right-hand side of the Dock allows it to spring open, and also provides you with options as to how its contents should be viewed and sorted. Placing it on the left-hand side does nothing except open the folder for you within the Finder. If this is acceptable, then follow these steps:

  1. Wthin the Finder, select your folder and press commandI (or go to File > Get Info)
  2. In the Get Info window that pops up, you’ll see a Name & Extension field. Add .app to the end of the folder name.
  3. Press return and in the pop-up window that appears, click on the Add button
  4. You’ll notice that the folder icon has changed - ignore this for now and leave the Get Info window open
  5. Now add the folder to the location you want
  6. Now go back to the Get Info window and remove the .app you added to the folder name at Step 2
  7. Press return and in the pop-up window that appears, click on the Remove button
  8. You can now close the Get Info window
In a few moments the folder’s icon should return to normal and you can now click on it within the Dock. Remember, doing so will only open the folder in the Finder.

Note: If you ever accidentally remove the folder from the Dock you will need to repeat the 8 steps above. However, you may find you need to restart your Mac before doing so.

I havent restarted yet, so maybe I should try that lol

I'm not a dock expert. I could be wrong, and welcome correction from others.

But...

I don't think the OP can do what he wants here.

The area of the dock "on the left side of the dividing line" is where icons for apps go.

The area "on the right side" of the line is where things YOU create go, such as files and folder icons.

I don't believe the two "areas" are interchangeable.

It is... what it is.

Note:
I'm writing this reply on a 2018 Mini still running Mojave.
It's possible that things re the dock have changed since Mojave was released...

AppleScript, save as an app, drag in Dock:
Code:
tell application "Finder" to open (path to applications folder as string)

When it was on the left side of your dock, did it just open the Applications folder in a Finder window? Or did it open in a grid/list/fan, like it does when it's on the right side of the dock?

If the latter, you could add the Launchpad app back to your dock. Right-clicking that (or force-clicking if you have a Magic Trackpad) will show all your apps in a list. You can also change the layout of the Launchpad (number of rows/columns), so that you can see more apps in the Launchpad grid when clicking the icon.
