So, here's the deal.
Noticed computer (mid-2010 MBP w/ 4gb RAM from factory) was periodically acting slow and (especially when running Parallels) and would freeze up after closing lid.
Found that whenever this occurred, only 2gb would be found by system - always present in Bank 0.
Swapped RAM modules, same thing periodically happened and RAM was always dropped from Bank 1.
Took to Genius Bar - was told that the connection between the logicboard and RAM tray was defective, and the only fix would be to install a new logicboard
Instead, bought a single 4gb module with the intention to remove 2x2 mods and instead install single 4gb module in Bank 1.
But.... computer didn't like that - won't make it past applelogo startup screen (spinning disk stops spinning) with only 4gb in Bank 1 (or Bank 0, for that matter).
But.... in combo with a 2gb module, works.... well, except sometime freezing during startup and freezing often after closing lid and transporting.
Any tips? Do I have any other options for a normal MBP w/ 4GB RAM other than a new logicboard?
