Random erroneous excessive temp message?

So my phone was sitting on my coffee table, when I looked over and noticed the temperature warning message!! The phone was cold to the touch, on a cold surface. Has anyone else seen this? I am on 4.1 and it is the first time this has happened to me.

This is yet another iphone4 issue. Its harmless, but somewhat annoying

Nope it was 830 at night. In a cool room, not in any sunlight.
