Random folders keep appearing on desktop

So I have this strange problem with folders appearing on my desktop. They keep appearing until my desktop is full.
The folders have random names, and they reappear if I delete them. See attached picture.

I hope someone has an idea of what is going on.

It seems to me as if some program is set to write its temp data to your desktop. Did you install any app just before this behavior started?

I can only think of installing Firefox. I have tried deleting FireFox, but the problem continues.

It seems to get worse as the folders now appear/reappear the second I delete the ones already on my desktop.
