Hey guys, this is my first post here, but I've been reading these forums as a guest for a while now.

Anyway, I found a random icon on my phone that I haven't seen before.

To get this to appear, I did the following;

Lock the phone
Double Tap the Home button to get the iPod controls up.
Hold the Home button so that Voice Recognition comes up
Cancel the voice recognition.

This icon is now on the right hand side of the iPod bar.

Anyone know what this is?

That's Apple AirPlay.

You're connected to a WiFi network with (presumably) an AirPlay compatible device connected.

Nope, nothing in my house is AirPlay compatible so I have no idea why it would come up, or why it takes such a strange sequence of events for it to appear.

Wow that's weird. Nice find though :)

I just tried it, with wifi/data off and it still works.

If that is the symbol you are refering to that is what it is. have you tried pressing it? a list should come up.

Your iTunes-equipped computer?

I think a Mac/PC can act as a source for an iPhone... correct me if I'm wrong here.

That's definitely the AirPlay logo though. Tap it and a list of devices should come up.

There were laptops connected, but none of them were running iTunes or any other media software.

As for what happens, when I press it, it does nothing. It lights up showing that the button press has been recognised, but with no function.

Yep I made it appear on mine too.

Soon as you press the play button it slides off to the right and disappears. Seems you cant actually access the airplay menu from there.

Glitch.

Enough of the airplay nonsense, that is an awesome but slightly creepy wallpaper dude :D

Ha, that's my housemate cleaning our mouldy shower when we first got out house. Student accommodation in Leeds = Not great! The gloves were to protect him from both the mould and the bleach he was using. Makes me laugh every time!

This also shows when you are using multiple speakers (i.e. a bluetooth speaker and the iPhone) It allows you to switch between them.
