Issue: Sometimes I do not get a notification on my AW Series 7 for iMessage. I get all other notifications from all other apps. What happens is my phone shows it on the lockscreen, but no sound or anything. (its frustrating as i get messages through out the day and people think that i am ignoring them...)

What I have done so far:
  1. Searched this forum for this issue
  2. Reset both watch and phone (iphone 13 pro max), restored from backup
  3. Above but did as a new device (a real pain...)
  4. made sure notifications are turned on in the watch app, set to mirror iphone
  5. do not use any "Do Not Disturb" or focus(es)
I was hoping there is something else that i can try. Its been going on since June, i was on the beta, so thought it was because of that; even reported it as a bug. After the public version came out, i removed the profiles and got the regular software update. And i did both sets of resets after this. Watch is new and under warranty, was hoping if all troubleshooting is exhausted, that i can go to the Apple store and get another one. (i know they usually only do hardware issues). Hate to pay all this $$$ but doesnt work as intended and i'm too invested in the eco system to switch. I chatted support, told them everything i did and asked again, ran out of time before my next meeting and didnt do it again. Any suggestions?

I’ve had something similar happen to me over the last few months. Notifications that come in aren’t reliably shown on the watch but appear on my other devices, and just like you I can’t put my finger on what’s causing it.

Edit: not using betas here.

I feel better that its not just me...i've searched online and all i get is "how to use notifications on the watch". come on, i have been using these for years...

OP,
Are you using your phone when the message comes in, or just recently used your phone and it is still unlocked?
Both devices are locked and idle. Best scenario is, i work from home, on conf calls all day. Randomly look at my phone and see the imessage notification on the lock screen, nothing on the watch; but again, it works and sometimes it doesn't...

Unfortunately, that sounds like an obscure OS bug. I suggest you contact Apple Support and talk with them. They may want you to install a logging app that can gather data about why the messages aren't triggering your watch.

Thats a good idea, will try that.

I have no help to offer other than tell you this is happening to my wife's S7 also. Doesn't appear to affect mine, however.

I usually will troubleshoot things to death, but she is less interested in messing with, so I don't know conditions when it is observed.
