here's the thing; it's really freaking me out.

lately, I've had occurrences (more than 5 times in the last 2 weeks), where the OS just freezes, everything except the mouse. nothing would work: the Force Quit option, the power button (single click), nothing; I can still move the mouse, but not click with it. the only way out is holding the power button for like 5 seconds to shut down the MacBook by force.

PS. I'm on a MacBook (4,1), 2.4Ghz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD.
Bought it back in September 2008.

PPS. It's still in awesome conditions, and never dropped it; I take good care of it.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you might have bad ram.

thanks for the tip; I did everything I could do to make sure my RAM was ok, and after 2 times of testing and checking, my RAM is 100% working perfectly.
what is my next suspect in this case?

It's kinda hard to say at this point. Apple has so many of the components soldered to the "Logic Board" that it really could be anything. My next guess would be graphics controller, which cannot really be tested, and even if it could, is soldered to the logic board. I would take it into an Apple Store and let a "Genius" look at it. Hopefully you still have apple care.
