New photography app dubble has launched for iOS, allowing users to randomly mix and produce double exposure photos with each other. The app allows users to either take a photo with the built-in camera or select a picture from the camera roll and upload it to the service, which then combines the user's photo with a random photo from another user to create a multiple exposure image that can be saved and shared through user profiles.

The world's first app for people to create images together! Shoot or upload a photo from your camera roll and wait for it to randomly mix with someone else's image. Then you're connected!

- Shoot with the dubble camera or upload any photo from your camera roll
- Your photo will randomly mix with another photo from anyone in the world
- Download or share your dubble image and view other profiles
- Redubble your images to create a series of dubbles from the same single photo

dubble is a completely new photographic experience. For the first time you can really interact with another person photographically. Anyone can join and start mixing photos right away creating stunning multiple exposure images.
dubble is a free app for the iPhone and iPod touch and can be downloaded through the App Store. [Direct Link]

It would be nice if I could mix two of MY photos....

Yes, that would be more powerful and creative. I guess 'social' rules right now  One can just make double exposures in software now. But the ability to do it in-phone would make a nice app.

I believe the sniffies app does something like this:
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/sniffies-tales-of-us/id682451085?mt=8

It's a sort of promotional app to promote their new album... but the main gist of it seems to be "Simply take 2 photos to create a double exposure"

• Combine photos to create beautiful, unexpected and sometimes surreal images.
• Simply take two photos to create a double exposure.
• Fun feature: Shake your iPhone to randomly select images from your library and remix your memories
• Built-in filters such as Enhance, Tone, Colour, and Order allow you to further adjust the image to express your creativity.

I get the idea there's going to be a lot of inappropriate images on this service... I wonder if there will be moderation taking place or if it'll be lawless and lewd.

(Particularly with this app being free... you attract the worst people by setting yourself below 99¢.)

Is this an article or paid advertisement? But it does look kinda interesting. I may give it a try.

It's an article, but sometimes I really think the MacRumors staff could take a moment to consider how their writing style might give the wrong impression on occasion.

I took a very hard look at my initial writing and realized that some things could have been worded better. Of course, some changes have been made now. :)

Double exposures are truly a lost art in the era of digital photography.
Until you realize that you can use Pixelmator or Photoshop layers to get the same effect.

Actually, pretty much any recent DSLR can make multiple exposures in camera.

Almost sure it's an ad.

iOS 7 only. Oo.

While I don't believe that Macrumors would do this necessarily, I don't see it being such a bad thing. In my real life, I'll do paid advertisements. However, I won't do paid advertisements for things I don't like.

If Arn wants to monetize the site and promote a product he likes, I see no issue with this, so long as it doesn't prevent real news and rumors from coming out. For instance, a friend of mine owns a TV reseller and says he won't carry Vizios as he thinks they're "Trash" and openly advertises the Sony and Samsung TVs, as well as certain other brands, and not because he makes the most markup (I know his markups) but because he has his own warranties and would prefer not to have to service a sale (and lose opportunity cost).

Similar, Apple makes money off products they sell (normally) and Jobs said "We don't sell trash"-some of the stuff in the Apple Store related to their products are trash (Software, Cases) but they also sell products I think the company believes in, such as Nest Thermostats.

But I think it is much more likely that this is just a product that gets a positive review. By the logic of some of these posters, everyone who gives and product a good review or announcement is a paid advert, no?

Unless Macrumors has such a policy, I say, give Arn the benefit of the doubt.

Thank you for your detailed response. I just believe that an ad should be marked as an 'ad'. It's fair to the readers. And I haven't ever seen such mentions here, although I'm sure there're paid news here.

Why?

Call me old-fashioned, but the idea of someone else's pictures randomly being fused with mine seems ridiculous.

Certainly don't understand what's compelling about this app or what makes it interesting enough to be featured here.

Bah! Now get off my yard, you punks!
