Hello everyone!

I'm having a concern where I see a small, INSTANTANEOUS pop-up on my MacBook Pro every once in a while. I'm assuming that this is something regarding software updates, etc. However, I'm concerned it may be something otherwise. Is there anyone that has experienced this?

The pop-up is so instantaneous that any message, etc. on the pop-up has been illegible. It occurs maybe once every hour or two.

I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you!

Regards,

Try opening Quicktime X and starting a screen recording ('new screen recording' from the file menu).

Once it happens, find the spot in the movie and hopefully there's a single frame in there with the message.

Otherwise, you may never know. Any particular thing you're doing when it appears? What apps do you ave running when it happens?

Delete any non-essential items from the following locations:
  • System Preferences > Accounts > yourusername > Login Items
(Lion users: System Preferences > Users & Groups > yourusername > Login Items)

  • /Library/LaunchAgents/ and ~/Library/LaunchAgents/
(Lion users: In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder > then enter the path)

  • /Library/StartupItems/
(Lion users: In Finder, click Go > Go to Folder > then enter the path)
  1. Launch Activity Monitor
  2. Change "My Processes" at the top to "All Processes"
  3. Click on the CPU column heading once or twice, so the arrow points downward (highest values on top).
  4. Click on the System Memory tab at the bottom.
  5. Take a screen shot of the whole Activity Monitor window, then scroll down to see the rest of the list, take another screen shot
  6. Post your screenshots.
