This is gonna sound kinda silly, but can the lighting on the backlit keyboard (fiber optics?) burn out? If so, how much usage would make this happen?

It's probably LED with fiber optics. LED has exceptional long life,
in addition, you are not running the backlight 24/ 7.
So if it burns out, by that time the iPod then will have more power than current MBP.

LEDs typically last over 100,000 hours. That's 11.4 years if you use the backlight continuously.

Where is the light sensor for the backlit keyboard? The sensor that determines if it is dark in the room or not.

well thats good to know that it wont "burn out" lol, i keep my MBP in my room, and usually the light is always off in my room so the room is not really all that dark during the day because of the light coming through the curtains, but the keyboard still uses the backlight during this time. I usually dont put my lights on in my room while im in it is because when im in my room, im usually playing xbox or just typing on the computer and the low light helps alot, so its good to know that the keyboard will last longer than the display itself lol.
