My friend's laptop is getting the following popup:

The laptop later that day had it's screen go black and took a while to restart. Anyone know what could be going on?

If your friend's MBPro is a 2011/2012 model, then that would be simply another graphics failure, and Apple will replace the logic board at no charge.

Checked the link, the laptop is unfortunately a mid 2012 model with a 650GT and a 1440x900 resolution screen (non-retina).

It would be helpful to have the full log - look in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports. The file will start with the word "Kernel" and have the .panic extension. I did a quick search and found a couple of articles in different forums from people that had a similar kernel panic report (yours is incomplete, though) with the 2012 15" non-Retina (9,1). Ominously, there were no replies to the OP's.

Is there any way to recover the full report after that window has been closed and the laptop restarted? The laptop *IS* using aftermarket RAM, but it's been fine for over a month. This is the RAM:

She's on OS 10.10.5 (if that helps).

It's a panic related to the GPU

Whether is SW or HW is the question

Also, the laptop's screen went black while it was playing back a DVD movie.
