Hi
Is anyone aware of Time Machine causing random shutdowns on a Mac Pro ?
After several incidents, I tracked down my random shutdown issues to using a USB or a NAS drive with Time Machine.
Using an internal HDD works fine.
I know it could be caused my a wide array of things (electrical, temperature, corrupted files) but it comes down to this : if I set Time Machine to an internal HDD, I can go months without any random shut down. If I set Time Machine to a USB or NAS drive, I get a random shutdown within a week.
Does this sound familiar to anyone ?
Specs : I am running Lion on a 2008 Mac Pro, with 2 quad cores, 4GB RAM and a Radeon HD 4870.
Temperature rarely gets above 100F.
