I have a 15" Macbook Pro, and it's had this issue for as long as I can remember.

Randomly, it will scroll the screen downward. It doesn't matter which application I'm using (browser, Openoffice, etc). And it doesn't matter if I have a mouse plugged into the USB port or not.

I'm running OSX 10.6.2, and prior to that I was running Leopard. The upgrade didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated!!

Thanks.

My only thought is that the trackpad is telling the computer it is scrolling, like when a joystick gets stuck on a game controller and your stuck spinning around. Something like that, but I don't think it's a physical thing. I'm not sure how, but I guess you may need to re-calibrate your trackpad, if that even makes sense, or is possible… Anyone else want to give it a shot?

have you tried

have you tried system preferences trackpad/mouse to configure your problem? if so why dont you try magic mouse its bluetooth & might just solve it for you
