New 2011 Thunderbolt Lion iMac just randomly shut off for no reason? I was watching a YouTube video and just BAM, black screen, I saw that my external HD was off too. So i knew it shut off. I turned it back on and everything was fine. Anyway I can check why it did so, or what triggered it? grrr...:mad:

I had the same thing happening on a 2008 24" iMac. Something I discovered by accident was that if I hit the table beside the iMac it would sometimes shut down. I discovered this by accident when I set something down on the table and heard the apple chime about 5 seconds later.

My research suggested either RAM or power supply. I switched the RAM and had the same issue. Ordered a new power supply off eBay and replaced it and problem solved.

Yours is under warranty so you can probably just get Apple to change it if it is the power supply.

I have had other BS problems with this machine too. I have a warranty with Best Buy. Probably gonna exchange it tomorrow.
