I am currently using a netgear dg834pn router which is connected to my iMac G5. I also use the wireless with my iBook G4 which is in my bedroom, 2 floors up where i get a poor signal.

Does anyone know of a good range extender for under £50 or know of a way that i could increase the range of the router?

The key is to use the same brand as your original router. Just briefly looking through the Netgear site, this might be what you want although I don't know the price. Alternatively, I think Netgear make a dedicated extender that doesn't plug into the original router,. Just plug it into a power socket, it'll pick up your signal and rebroadcast it. :)
