What's the highest that has been achieved? The rank is according to number of posts, so who are the top three posters and what rank do they have?

wdlove was a 604 when his contributer status ran out for a few days.

So contributing wipes out your rank status in your user title? That's kind of a drag. It's also kind of a disincentive to donate (not that I have the funds to spare anyway). For all the good guys and gals out there who donated maybe they could have both their divine status and their rank status in their user title.

Some keep their title and are "Stealth Demis". Most of us prefer to use a Demi or Contributer tag. It's up to the individual. The rating doesn't really matter. Most people who frequently visit the site know who makes good, accurate, and relevant posts, and who doesn't.

Yeah, it does.

I asked Doctor Q about it and it's not possible with this forum software. :(

Very true. So when you have a problem, and you see Mega Man running around in your thread, you know that you're on the cusp of a solution. :)

You just convinced me to turn "show avatars" back on. :)

The incentive to donate is to help the site out. There are also a small number of 'privileges' afforded to those who donate.

The idea that post rank/processor status means anything important is just a little sad.

Honestly, I recognize most people by their 'tars and not there names. I hate when people constantly change their 'tars. I tend to forget who people are.

I just went to add a pic to my profile that is under 150x150 and less than 97 kb and it shows up after I upload it, but when I click save changes to my profile it says "Upload of file failed." Here's the pic I'm trying to add. Any clues to what the problem is?

Not really the appropriate thread, but it looks like it's in your profile.

Oh. I didn't see that written any where. Only a hundred something more to go then.

Its in the FAQ and a sticky on the site somewhere

I meant I didn't see it anywhere where you add a picture to your profile. On most sites there's no specific distinction between a profile picture and an avatar. So you upload your profile pic and then don't see an avatar.

Ah on vB a profile picture normally is a picture of yourself (or that was the original intent of a profile picture) and an avatar is for your online personality pretty much. How people will know you by.

And Grapes i think this just proves we refresh too much and are here way too much

Gotcha. Maybe there could be a short 1 sentence description of that fact right above the upload button for your profile picture just to cut down on any confusion. Just a thought.

not totally true, you can have one or the other.

if you contribute you can have your user title one of three ways:

* Contributor

* macrumors Demi-God / Goddess

* normal ranking for post count: macrumors newbie/regular/6502/604 etc etc etc

so yeah, you can't have both but you do have options. :)
