Has anyone here bought this mouse? If so, how do you like it. Would use it for MMO gaming, but also 3d modeling in Lightwave. Any input would be great. One more thing, how we'll do the drivers behave in MT. Lion? Thanks.

I'm on Lion (10.7.5) but my RAT5 is just awesome! Certainly the best made mouse I've ever used! I've had mine for about 5 months and I use it about 8 to 10 hours a day 7 days a week. Pretty much all the text decals are rubbed off already but the soft velvety coating hasn't worn thru (although shinny under the trigger finger). Here's my QL profile: http://www.quakelive.com/#!profile/matches/XWand/2013-05-05

The drivers are a little more demanding that the native OS X mouse drivers but not too bad:

Thanks. As long as it's well under Mt.Lion, I think I'll order it.

To my knowledge, Mad Catz (Cyborg) and Logitech are the only ones that really write software for Mac OS, which is pretty damned cool. I looked really hard at the RAT mice, but I just couldn't get over the rakish design.

I ended buying the Corsair Vengeance M95 MMO Mouse (in arctic white) a few weeks ago, but the software is Windows-only. It didn't matter much to me though because I also game in Windows. Once you get the profiles and macros all set up in the Windows software, you can save them to the mouse's internal memory and then the mouse behaves the same in either OS.

The mouse has been excellent for the most part and feels very solid with its aluminum frame construction. The only issue I have with the white version of the M95 if that it has a smooth (glossy) top finish. The black version has a rubberized soft touch finish. I'm not quite sure why they couldn't do the same for both.

I've got the rat mmo7 and it's a pretty good mouse. Software works fine. I was able to macro the buttons to a bunch of keyboard shortcuts. Then i switch up the profile for gaming configurations.

So the software doesn't conflict with anything? What about all the people complaining about the cursor jumping all over the screen? I really want to order this mouse.

I haven't run into any problems so far. The software is basically the same. It just detects which mouse you have plugged in. I was using a cyborg rat 7 before, but i really liked how the mmo7 looked and so I got that. No issues with the software, no errors, stalls, or issues with the other software on my machine.

I haven't run into the cursor jumping all over the place. The only time that occurred was when I was experimenting by removing the mouse acceleration that's built in Mac OSX. It would fly over the place, but that was similar to how my mouse was in windows when I was using my logictech G7. I've been using my mac longer, so I'm not used to the mouse cursor zooming across the screen as I was when on windows. I think that might be the reason for the "jumping" across the screen. The acceleration built in Mac OSX kicking in as you move the mouse versus the software of the mouse DPI settings. I've never really experienced that. It could be more I'm more dull to these things, but with the pass year using the cyborg 7 until I got the mmo7 I didn't have much issues.

Thanks. I just ordered the glossy black version. How do you turn off the Mac OSX mouse acceleration? Will I need to do that?

You turn it off via terminal, but I remember there other methods to keep it off. I didn't really venture too far into details, as I was just testing to see how it was. The acceleration would turn back on when I restarted. The only reason why some people turn it off was to be more accurate when playing first person shooters. It depends if you are bothered by it, I'm fine.

If I remember correctly, the acceleration was basically when you're moving your cursor it may cause it to become inaccurate. Some people were very sensitive to that and did not like that. I'm not really bothered but then again I never really play too many FPS, except left4dead. If you ever used a mouse on windows where you could change the dpi settings and move the cursor around, you basically get the same thing on Mac OSX by turning off the acceleration. Some people don't really notice it and do fine when on macs for a good while, but usually its often people who switched different platforms who sometimes have issues.

Here's a link with more info: http://osxdaily.com/2010/08/25/mouse-acceleration/

Hope that helps.

Thanks. Have you had any trouble with the axis's not moving, or jittering all over the place? How are the buttons holding up? Has any of the finish worn off?

On my original cyborg rat 7, the buttons held up quite well. Even with me smashing the left click on shooters that required constant clicking. The only thing that did wear off was the cyborg stamp, but that was partially my fault as I rubbed it off by accident with a towel when cleaning (thought it was a stain). Never had issues with jittering. The only weird issue I really had was that if I lifted my mouse and then plant it back on the mouse pad, the cursor would pause and then move about a few secs later. The other buttons would work but not tracking. I'v heard it was just the laser going to sleep when being lifted but it didn't really affect me. This problem was not a hindering factor when playing games, just when I would randomly life the mouse to clean or adjusting my wrist on the mouse pad. This mouse was not matte but the standard rubbery texture and it was fine.

The mmo7 that i switched to is great. It does not have that problem where I lift the mouse and then reseat and the cursor pauses. I don't know if thats a problem with the older version but since we both have the mmo7 I believe they fixed that. No issues with the axis's moving either. I have the red glossy version and I like that more. easier to clean. The paint is great, no issues with buttons. I guess my only nitpick is that the side button 3 is a lil wobbly. This issue can just be on my mouse. Everything else is great.

Sounds really good. I bought the glossy black because I have a Moshi glossy black backlit keyboard for my new Desktop Mac Pro 12 core. Really like it as well. Thanks for all the input. I'm just wondering if I'll have to remove my Sensi Diablo 3 mouse drivers. Kinda hope not, I like that mouse as well. I always hesitant to buy third party hardware for my Mac, as its difficult to know if it works well.

Np problem, glad to be of help. I'm trying to remember if I left my razer naga drivers when I switched to my cyborg 7. I think I might have left it. I don't see why the drivers would cause any conflict. It'll just know that no devices are plugged in. In the end, you'll just have an extra process running but it doesn't take too much resources.

Hi, Well I just got my new Rat MMO7 Glossy Black, and really like it so far! I tried to program something simple like Zooming the screen in OSX ( Control and Scroll wheel). no success so far. I did get the Volume working with the thumb wheel though. Can you have it launch an app with the press of a button? I did get the Option click to work, that gets rid of all open windows. The mouse seems very solid, and well built. I also ordered the Glide 9 Aluminum mouse mat. That comes next week. So far have not had any problems with the mouse acting strangely. Love the lighting. Tried to get the 3D view in Lightwave to move using button 2, and no dice. Best I can get is it moves, but after releasing the button, I can't get it to move again for like 7 seconds. It's like it get's paused or something. it's a simple command of just holding the option key, and pressing the left mouse key. Should work. I downloaded the Diablo3 profile, and that works fine. It seems to have trouble with anything that has multiple keystroke commands. Any tips on programming it would be great! Are there any tutorials about programming on the web other than their ST MMO7 Tutorial? Thanks.

Ok, I finally got it programmed for all the functions in Lightwave. Works great! Then I added a profile I got from Mad Catz site that is setup for Diablo. Now both my Lightwave and Diablo Profiles are on Mode one. Is there anyway to move one profile to Mode two so I can use the mode switch on the mouse to switch between them?

Got the Glide 9 mat!

Really loving this combo the MMO7 on the Glide 9 mat is really awesome! Love the silky smooth feel. absolutely perfect tracking.
