Is it normal to hear a rattling noise from the phone if you shake it from top to bottom?

It sounds like something is loose inside the phone.

I know it isn't the sim since it still makes the rattling noise without the sim card and tray.

Should I be worried that something got broke off inside?

If you slightly hold the home button and shake the phone, does it still rattle? On my phone, the home button is a little losoe and is the source of the rattling if I shake the phone.

I took the phone in today and they swapped it out, but the new phone also has the rattle.

I think the rattle might be normal.

Mine doesn't rattle at all, maybe you should ask the genius if you exchanged it at the apple store.

Same thing for me! To be honest, I didn't notice anything broken, so I didn't want to drive all the way to the Apple store.

I kept shaking it until the rattling stopped...probably the thing got caught between hardware :/. hopefully it's just like...an extra piece of overflow plastic from the case molding that wasn't taken out before the iPhone was assembled.

Ahh, mine rattles...if anyone goes to an Apple store about it, please post your results.

Now that I found super small marks, I might consider taking my rattler to the store :p.

Then again, the refurbished can be worse.

But that rattling is annoying even though I only hear it when I'm running apps like Koi Pond, Relax, Tap Tap, etc.

Take it back. I had the same problem but it didn't bother me much, so I was at an apple store with my friend getting his new ipod touch, and I asked the guy about it. It was almost closing so he didn't do a swap, so I made an appointment and came back the next for a no questions asked replacement, took less than 10 minutes.

When I got my phone replaced i noticed the home button rattled but after reading here i glad im not alone

Well I took it back to the apple store, had the same genius help me. He spoke with his manager and said the rattle was normal. He even had me shake his to test out. I guess I will try another apple store.

I went to a different apple store today and they gave me a replacement phone that doesn't rattle when you shake it.

I finally have a perfect iPhone!
