My new 3GS has a rattle to it and I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I know for a fact it's NOT the volume rocker, silent toggle switch, sleep/wake button, sim card.

It is coming from the camera area. Is this a normal thing, or should I possibly look into replacing my phone?

Same rattle on my iPhone. This is my first one so I assumed it was normal since everything is working 100%. It's only coming from the camera.

It's probably the autofocus lens. Nothing to worry about.

I too just noticed the rattle after reading the thread. It's at the top, and I'm thinking it has to do with the camera as well. No worries unless your iPhone 3GS has a loud rattle. I can barely hear it with mine, and I have to shake it pretty hard to hear anything.

Thanks for the responses!

Yeah I figured it had something to do with the auto-focus. Something needs to be moving for that to happen = )

Glad to know I'm not the only one...

3G Rattles

yeah, have the rattles too. Thought it could be sim tray, removed, still rattled. Next guess was the camera. will keep an ear on it.

video/sound clip

sorry about my crappy webcam. the video is pretty much worthless, but the audio should suffice.

it may seem like i'm pounding on my phone due to the close proximity of the camera, but i'm only giving it light taps.

I tried it without the sim and sim tray, pressing down on the sleep/wake button, silent switch, and volume rocker, so it is def. something internal.

the earliest genius bar appt. i could get is on thursday at 4! eeeee!
