Whenever you save files to the desktop they always go to the primary monitor and in the upper right. I manage all my files/folder on my external monitor and would like the autosave position to be over there.

From my google search however I could not find anything. Does anyone know of a setting or an app that can do this?

I'm not at my desk with my external at the moment but IIRC moving the menu bar to the other monitor in system preferences should do what are looking for.

This would make the external (smaller monitor) my primary then and would also move the dock. I do however want to keep the menu bar and dock on the main monitor...

Any other ideas?

You could make many folders on the Desktop of the external monitor and save your files in the appropriate folders. The position of the folders should be remembered, so they stay on the external monitor.
