Re-installed Lion - where did my space go?

I did a fresh install of Lion on my 128 Gig 13" 2011 MBA. Reason is I did a time machine migration and got to much crap moved over.
Started over and only took the mail folder. Much better.
However what I don't understand is that I get the following:
Capacity: 120.47 GB
Available: 110.76 GB

I checked all the sizes and if I add up:
Users
System
Applications
Library

it only comes out to ~5 GB so where did the other 5 GB go?
Could it be the virtual memory swap file?
Any insight more than welcome!

4 GB is the sleep image. Not sure about the rest. Try using DaisyDisk.

It has been a part of OS X way before Lion. It stores your RAM on your hard drive when Mac sleeps. And NO, you can't delete it.

Thanks for the warning, I had missed that rule...

But I do believe I have the answer now. If I combine the sleep file of 4GB + the 5+ GB that the system takes it adds up to 10GB.

Actually, you can. If you turn off the feature (a little digging in to the terminal is required) you can reclaim that space, but you'll lose the hibernate feature.

A lot of space gone

Hi,

I have the same problem, only on a larger scale. When I use "columns" view, and fold out my harddrive, I get an mysteriously odd count:
My user folder shows 82,44 GB
But the folders inside it, only add up to 18 GB.
So do anyone have a clue to where 82-18 = 64 GB did go?

I have tryed restarting, tryed loggin on as "root" and let Disk Util do its thing with persmisions and with checking disk. Nothing i wrong there.

Well, I found it! I forgot, that the folder "Library" is hidden in Lion ;-) And that was where my GB did go
