Hey all,
I'm stuck with the Apple Logo Screen of Death but I'm trying to avoid a restore since my backup was lost in a laptop crash. Just having tons of luck with my electronics lately...
Anyway, I read somewhere that the iPhone firmware is installed on a separate partition than all of the user data I'm trying to save (camera roll photos, contacts, sms, etc.). Is it possible to somehow re-install the firmware without overwriting the user data on the phone and potentially break the loop that's keeping me "bricked"?
I'm using a 32GB iPhone 3GS with no hacks, jailbreaks, or mods. Not sure on the exact firmware version but at least 3.1.1. The computer is running Windows XP, no access to a Mac.
I'd really appreciate any help, I know enough about computers to be dangerous, but I'm in way over my head with this one.
Thanks,
Starksy
