Hi,
i wish to re-install my macbook pro but unfortunately i don't have the installation disc.
how ever, i do have a macbook (white) installation disc with the same version (10.6.something) is it possible to install it on the macbook pro?

is there another way to install the macbook pro from scratch without the DVD?

thanks,
Hila.

Short answer, nope.

The reinstallation disc is only specific to the computer it came with.

Your best bet is to purchase the retail SL DVD from Apple. Or, if it's one of the newer unibody white MBs with NVIDIA GPUs, you can upgrade it to something more recent like Mountain Lion, Mavericks or even Yosemite.

The grey disks are machine specific. It won't work.

If your computer came out before 10.6 did, you could probably try and source a retail DVD from Apple, I believe it was $29.
