Re-linking itunes playlist

I'm having issues re-linking playlists to my itunes music folder. Ever since I moved my itunes folder to an external drive the tracks in my playlists are no longer linked and have a "!" next to them. I changed my default music folder location in the preferences to reference my external drive and originally everything linked fine. For some reason that link has been lost and now I have to manually re-link all the tracks in my playlists. Is there any way I can do this with one process as opposed to re-linking every track?
 
I have moved my library without a problem. but I did have to import the playlist. try exporting it. delete it and import it again.
 
Tried exporting, deleting and importing and no dice. Still where I was before :( Also tried the consolidate library function and that didn't work either. Any more ideas???
