The new iOS maps was clearly never remotely ready for the primetime outside the US, and Apple had to know this.

Any idea why the hell international users were subjected to a forced change in map app that they now can't use?

The more important question is how we fix it. There was initially word that the maps were taken from an open source mapping project. Would fixing bugs there carry over to the iOS maps?

Is there anything we can do as users to help out and fix this damn thing, or are we reliant on either a quick Google app submission or the ability of Apple to do 8 years worth of Google R&D in a few months?
