Hello

I recently purchased a new MacBook which is running Cubase Studio 4 and Reason 3. I am looking at buying a controller keyboard to connect with my MacBook and I intend to also purchase some form of audio interface.

I'm trying to establish a set-up where I can trigger piano and string notes (in Cubase) by playing the controller keyboard notes in real time – while my sequenced tracks are playing back. I’m looking for an affordable yet hassle-free arrangement for my equipment during performances.

I’d welcome your advice and opinions :)

Many thanks

Spencer.

Any MIDI keyboard or controller will do. You'd want some USB (if you purchased the new MacBook) interface that take in MIDI and spits out audio, which is what most interfaces do.

You can rewire Reason through Cubase so you will keep those sounds playing, and then play sounds through Cubase via your keyboard.

Good luck with everything!
