So I have seen this online and I was wondering whether this principle can be used so that the backlight responds to keypresses instead of music. This came from seeing "reactive keyboard lights" about 0:52 in. I understand that the effect won't be the same as mac use total internal reflection but it would still be cool if the whole keyboard went from a dimmer backlight or backlight off to a higher brightness. Is there a way to do this already? If not is it even possible.

As cool as it is to have the backlight light the key your pressing, from a practical point of view, surely the point of the backlight is to see the key before you press it. So you know you are going for the correct key.
