Reading files off of an HDD camcorder

I have a Panasonic HDD camcorder for work and when I go to upload my files to my macbook they come up as an MP4. I need them to come up as MOD and MOI files as my work uses Windows machines and the MOI file is needed for time stamp purposes. Is there a way to get the time stamp out of an MP4 and how can I get my macbook to read them as MOD and MOI?
