I'm using MacDrive Trial standard in Windows 7 VM, mainly the point is to scan my 4TB USB drive at USB3.1 controller speeds, Basically, i figured it was a good way to bypass the slow performance of HGFS shared folder on VMWare (its ok for small files accessing, but its slow as hell)

Drive is detected after installing Intel's diver + Macdrive in VM, hweve i hit snag

Antivirus completed entire scan in only 10 seconds..

I'm assuming the culprit here is MacDrive. however once installed, i can open Windows explorer, and view my files just fine and read them, Its just Antivirus scanning doesn't work. properly.. Apart from switching to the slower, VMWare shared folders, is there a solution?

I've also tried HFSExploer by Catacome (free), but there is no Windows shortcut in explorer context menu.

Partially solved in Windows 10, however i don't think these 3rd party utilities are designed for scanning HFS+ with Antivirus software.

I tested 4TB raced through scanning under Zonealarm + Macdrive HFS formatted (USB drive connected to VM.) :
Scan time: 2 minutes

without Macdrive, and only network (VMWare shared folder): Much more realistic time It was takes ages.. but expected... Mainly because i've observed during scanning via Macdrive, no drive activity was actually ever accessed... so it was kind of a "fake scan"..

These 3rd party programs are not bad, but they obviously are not designed for scanning with antivirus software, only just accessing from different platform only. Unless i've missed something along the way, i'll just stick to the real deal..

If i was always going to access from Windows/Mac, i'd reformat as exFat, but this is a one-time only.
