i have this encoded video that uses codec x264 and has a resolution of 1280x524. i was wondering if this is real 720p or just something that is suppose to be 720p. it comes from a 1080p source and is encoded to these specs. thanks for any help.

720p has a resolution of 1280x720, whichi s a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. However, if you have a feature film, which i'm suspecting that you have, it was probably shot in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Therefore, the picture is letterboxed to fit on a 720p screen, so the actual resolution of the movie that you get would be the 1280x524 that you have.
