When I text it shows people's nicknames. How do I make it their regular name again?

When I text it shows people's nicknames. How do I make it their regular name again?

The names that are displayed in iMessages can be changed by going to Settings > Mail Contacts and Calendars > Short Name (which is under contacts).

How do you get it to show short names or nicknames? I enabled it on the settings but on text, it's still showing people's full names? Please advise. Thanks.
