The light shines through a bit much on the power button. The lines on the headphone cups look curvy from afar. Guess you can look for a serial on the battery door and what not.

I don't trust any Beats anymore. I was in China 4 times over the last few years for work and I've seen warehouses full of fake Beats, Louis, Prada, etc. They are VERY hard to distinguish now. It's actually pretty amazing. I even bought a 128GB SD card, absolute perfect Sandisk packaging, etc; only to be fooled with it being a reformatted 2GB. Everything was fake lol. They even had mock-up Apple Stores in Huaqiangbei, the mega electronics part of Shenzhen. I'm talking 10 story double-Costco size megamall buildings. Simply amazing.

Best of luck to you OP

it looks real but its an older version when they were monster beats by dre.

i remember seeing in asia where the fake ones would have a 6 instead of a b

The light on the power switch shines a bit too much, like it shines through the plastic too much, that's a give away. Sorry to say it's fake.

I don't understand the logic. You find it amazing, but you don't trust some brand names because of illegally manufactured and labeled goods? Isn't that a bad thing as opposed to an amazing thing?

By "amazing", did you mean it's "disgusting" what China get's away with? Do you think it's amazing that these criminals can COPY other's packaging, and in some cases, government and third party, SAFETY labels?

Not trying to start a fight, just want to understand what you are saying.

Personally, I think it's a disgrace that people manufacture products, with other companies names on them (illegally) especially electronics, where they the potential to put people's safety at risk.

My 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure you misunderstood the poster. The definition of 'amazing' does not include any reference to 'good', rather 'astonishing' or 'surprising'.

If you bought them to go wear then does it matter if they are fake?

If you bought them for listening to music then why buy beats?

i dont understand this forum sometimes and the hatred towards the beats.

OP is simply asking for help to figure out whether they are real or fake.

He didnt ask your opinion on whether they sound amazing or what your preference would be? How hard is it to just stick to the question the OP is asking and let someone for once enjoy their purchase.

Oh no I definitely dont find the concept of copies amazing, but they do a damn good job at it. It's sickening that they get away with it, but when you see the entire scope of the market there it's jaw dropping. I was more trying to relay my awe of the size of the electronics market there. I'm very anti-piracy, but it is what it is.

Some even have working serials on them - so you can even register some fake beats on the website.
